I love to stay in Paradors if possible when in Spain so I booked this parador for my Camino walking friends and me. Pontevedra is a great town and this parador is very nicely located to see all the points of interest in town.
You can see the history thoughout the hotel. The hotel staff was kind to arrange a taxi ride that would sit and wait for us as we toured the monastery of Xoan de Poio so we could see the huge mosaic mural of the Camino (it was spectacular). We would be walking past the monastery the next day, but it would be closed- so taxiing out and back was our only option.
The rooms at the hotel were comfortable.

Pontevedra is a must on anyone's list visiting the north of Spain. I have fallen in love with the town and will definitely be back when I can. It is clean and has an old town charm about it and very easy to get around. Loads of history and also enough to keep you busy on an evening for a night filled with tapas and wine. Also, best churros I have ever had.

The people in Pontevedra were lovely.
The people in Pontevedra were lovely. Very friendly & helpful. Food & drink were value for money & always good quality. It feels very ‘Spanish’ & not too touristy. Totally recommend for a mainland stay.

Pontevedra is a very pretty city. The old town area is large and stylish and has all the tourist needs like amazing food and drink places, accommodation, markets and shops and it's been fully pedestrianised. Also is surrounded by amazing beaches and trekking paths.

Pontevedra has a charming old city center, with its two-storied houses and its porticoes. As a pilgrim, I recommend a visit to the cathedral and to the monastery complex, and a casual stroll about the streets. Though I know there is much more to see and to do in Pontevedra besides passing by. There are restaurants for every taste, ranging from fast food and pizzas to the local gastronomy, which is very rich and tasty - the fish and the octopus. If there is one thing I really didn't like (at all), it was the bus station, which looks abandoned. If you must travel by bus, you'd better go directly to the bus parking place and try to find someone to talk to over there - or ask a bus driver.

Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed - so a great place to go if you want to get away. It has history, culture and the walk along the river is priceless (either for sport or just to relax). The people are great too. Pontevedra is a great city to walk in (you can tell there's been a big push for pedestrians in preference to cars!)

Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail.
Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail. Lots of bars & restaurants, especially in the old city. Did a trip to the Atlantic coast which was well worth the effort. Stunning views out to the islands.
Casa do Fontan is a beautiful property situated in the hills above pontevedra. The host was so helpful in giving advice of local places to visit; we particularly loved the natural swimming areas in the rivers close by. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore rural Spain at its finest. It’s calm and peaceful, the kitchen is fully equipped and the rooms provide all the facilities that you need for a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend casa do fontan to our friends and family!
The facility is very cozy. Comfortable and clean. Jesus, the owner is very polite and helpful. If we visit again Pontevedra, we will be here again . The owner provides coffee, milk, tea, and a water bottle. It is very close to everywhere by walking.
If you have a plan to visit Fidel pulperia, it is a famous octopus restaurant, and it is between 4 -8pm, we highly recommend eating at El Trole. It is at the corner and the food is delicious. Also, they cook a delicious octopus.
It was the best stay on our Camino.
It is not a hostel. It is a five-star hotel:)
Modern, spotless clean with all facilities you need.Free washing machine and dryer.
We were so welcomed by the owner and all the people who were working there . You can feel good vibes and a very welcoming atmosphere.
I know how difficult it is to keep so high standard in this kind of business, but Julio does.
Great breakfast with fresh orange juice included:)
Pontevedra is an amazing small city with an excellent vibe. Slow City Hostel is close to historical must sees as well as shops, restaurants and bars. Jorge was passionate about his city and glad to share context. Laundry onsite. 3 euros for a wash. Six for a wash/ dry. Kitchen supplies for cooking were sufficient. Within two small blocks of rejoining the Camino and closer to the bridge out of Pondevedra than other options.
I never leave reviews but feel compelled to review this one. In the last 60 days I have stayed in all manner of accommodations in Spain and this one was by far the most thoughtful and well organized of them all. It was beautiful, spotless and perfectly located. Sylvia responded to my inquiries within seconds. Everything you will want or need is provided and checking in and out was flawless.
The apartment was clean and comfortable with great access to the town. The host was so reliable, meeting us at the apartment when we arrived as we had emailed him when we were a few km away while walking the Camino. He apologized for not speaking much English. I find an apology kind of cute, but unnecessary since I am the one who can’t speak Spanish while in Spain.
The hotel's location is brilliant as it is in central Pontevedra. They also provide you with parking (at an additional cost) which comes in handy, although we had a big car and it was a bit of a struggle to get in and out.
The hotel is very clean and although a bit rough on the edges, it looks good and what you would expect for a 3 star hotel.
The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, the room was cozy, the property is quiet and peaceful, and the free breakfast was very good! I feel like I read somewhere in the listing that it is 6 miles from Pontevedra, which isn’t true…it’s 30 minutes away. But it is in a lovely forested area and we were not disappointed.
It’s a family run hotel and they were very nice and accomodating. Which given them a poor review feels a bit mean. The location is good close to the old town. Even though it felt a bit run down around the hotel. They had a kettle in the room with tea and coffee which I really appreciated
I had amazing stay at this hotel. It’s located just a few minutes from Camino so perfect spot if you do Camino. The building and interior itself was so beautiful and authentic. Hotel is located in the heart of old town with an excellent restaurant just downstairs. I highly recommend it!
Lovely modern room, with tea and coffee available in the communal area in the hallway.
Super well located right in the centre of Pontevedra's old town.
The manager was very friendly and arranged for us to leave our bags at the property for a few hours after checking out.
The location was very near the Camino Santiago de Compostela Portuguese Coastal Route that I was on. There isn’t too much around the hotel but it was a good stopping point for me for the day.
The woman who checked me in was very nice and helpful.
Location, but hard to find even with GPS. Nearby hotel provided map and wifi to contact management about wifi. Finally found location by driving a block on wrong way lon a one way pedestrian dead end. Management helpful in connecting wifi
Boa Vila is bang on the Camino de Santiago which is great if you're walking it (we were). Although I found the room a little pricy in comparison with other accommodation in this part of Spain, it was clean and comfortable.
Since we were walking the Camino the hotel was right on our path. We were pleased that the hotel was close to everything and that we could have a decent breakfast before heading off on the Camino the next morning.
I was doing the Camino Portuguese and booked this hotel. The hotel room was outstanding. Totally unexpected quality. Super clean and staff was very helpful. Definitely come back to this hotel.
