From the moment we arrived at Hotel Republica we felt welcomed despite being hot and dishevelled from a big day of hiking. This was one of the most friendly receptions we have had during our two weeks in Portugal. Nothing was too much trouble, including room service provided early from the Restaurant Menu when the All Day Menu was not available. We requested an extra night and again, no problem at all. Breakfast options at the restaurant were exceptional and the service, equally as good. The coffee machine in the room was awesome, the beds luxurious and the bathroom stylish and clean. The minibar was well stocked and an abundance of room snacks were available.

It was our second time staying at Ventozelo. It is no doubt, the best property to enjoy Douro Valley. Gorgeous view of the river, amazing food, good wine, and lovely trails to enjoy.

Featuring a bar and a terrace, Sapientia Boutique Hotel is set in Coimbra, 600m from S. Sebastião Aqueduct and 400m from University of Coimbra. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sapientia Boutique Hotel. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was very large and the bed was comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. WiFi worked well. We had a wonderful, delicious dinner outside on the terrace! There is a rooftop patio with really incredible views. The location is very convenient to tour the Coimbra University! If you drive to Coimbra, make sure you get good directions to get out of the old part of the town. The streets are narrow, many are one-way, and are difficult to navigate. Don’t rely on Google maps! We loved our stay here and would stay here again!
